IF YOU’RE HEARTBROKEN OR HURTING – THIS PIECE IS FOR YOU!

If you lived on this planet long enough, you know that this world is not perfect. If you’ve interacted with enough people you know that indeed this world is hurting and a lot of hearts are broken, a lot of souls are injured and scarred. Day by day, I am realizing that one of the most important facet of our lives and our walk on earth is our emotions and emotions are a beautiful indicator of what our hearts are feeling, what we believe and the state of our souls

As believers, although our spirits are united with Christ and sealed forever for salvation, we still have lacerations on our souls that hurt so bad. We still have pieces of our hearts that are broken into smithereens and just because we are saved from eternal damnation doesn’t mean we are healed from the injuries we got from the fight of life. For many of us, It is not simple dealing with the fact that a parent who was meant to protect us from the harshness of this life let us down or that a person we gave ourselves to cut so deep that words fail us in describing the pain we feel.

I don’t claim to understand your hurting and scars but I do know that Jesus gets it, I know that is cliche but I hope that after this piece you see a Saviour whose heart beats with love and compassion for you!

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.

If you believe in Jesus, He never leaves you nor forsake you. But I don’t believe this verse is affirming that. I believe this verse gives us a peak into who our Saviour is. It is almost like Jesus has a special grace and favour for those who are hurting, crushed or heartbroken. It reminds of how Jesus said : “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to heal the brokenhearted.”  Jesus wants you to know that he gets your pain and that he is not far away and because He loves you, he is willing to use His Power to bind up your broken heart and heal your wounded soul. Just like the psalmist says “The Lord restores our soul”.

John 4 : 3 -26

Jesus deliberately went through a place called Samaria to love a women whose heart was broken and soul was wounded. I say her heart was broken because she had had 5 husbands and was living with her boyfriend when Jesus met her. Yet our Lord sought her, to love her to wholeness.

Jesus answered and said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again;but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

John 3 : 13 -14

This story tells me that one of the reasons our hearts get broken and our souls become lonely is because we are drinking from the wells of human relationships. We are trying to get our validation, worth and sense of love from a well that simply cannot satisfy us. There is a Jesus shaped vacuum in us that only Jesus can fill.  So if your hurt stems from a human relationship I hope you realize that there is a better way; to drink from the wells he has produced inside of you and to get your sense of love and wholeness from Jesus and He alone because only He can truly satisfy.

Just like Jesus sought after the Samaritan woman, Jesus is seeking to love you in the area of your hurt and pain and I believe the cure to a lonely soul, a broken heart or wounded soul is to tell Jesus all about it. For many of us talking about these events is difficult but telling Jesus about the hurt, the pain, the events that caused it, how it makes you feel is a powerful technique that allows His grace to fill your hearts.

Time doesn’t heal the pain of a wounded soul, It merely numbs it. Only Jesus can heal. So, Will you tell Jesus your pain today? Will you let your Saviour into the bitter waters of your soul? When you do that I hope you remember that the one you are talking to understands you like no one else can and best of all, he is all powerful and will make the bitter waters sweet!

This song ranks in the top 5 of beautifully written worship songs about Jesus!

Parting Scripture :

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans : 8 : 38-39

Are You Having Fun?

Depending on your background when you think of fun, a couple of things come to your mind. For me, fun is watching Chelsea Fc win a football match or carrying my adorable niece on my shoulders and hopping like a horse. However, in our walk with our heavenly father, this idea seems foreign.

We have to remind ourselves of God’s grace each day because every single day our minds forget just how good He is.

Recently, I haven’t been having fun with my Heavenly Father for a number of reasons. Mainly because I have been dealing with condemnation. It’s funny how condemnation makes us feel a distance from our heavenly father that simply doesn’t exist and as much as our hearts believe God’s truth in His word, our minds are always playing catch up. We have to remind ourselves of God’s grace each day because every single day our minds forget just how good He is. So, If you are in a place where you can’t seem to shrug off that feeling of guilt and condemnation this piece is God’s heavenly wink to you.

Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us. Because of our faith, Christ has brought us into this place of undeserved privilege where we now stand, and we confidently and joyfully look forward to sharing God’s glory

We have peace with God! Your Father likes you. You are cool with him. He is not folding his arms and turning his back at you; In fact, because of Jesus, we are always in favour with our Father. His likeness toward us is not based on our behaviours, It is based on the fact that we are in his Son and his Son is in us. Therefore whatever feeling of distance with our Father is falsified and not the truth!

But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him[God] through the blood of Christ

We don’t just have peace with God, we are near to him. We have a closeness with God that is based solely on the work of his Son, Jesus. This means that our peace is not tied to how well we behave, our closeness to Him is not based on how we feel we have performed or how we have performed. It’s based on how good a Job Jesus did by his blood in taking away our sins and reconciling to us to our Father.

This means we can relax with God. we are not perfectly behaved and we don’t have to be, but we are perfectly loved. Jesus didn’t come to improve our behaviour, He came to make give us his Life so that we can have a relationship with God without any form of condemnation.

You mean to tell me that I am close to God and God is close to me and he is always good to me no matter how shitty I behave? Yes!!!! Thousand times Yes!!!!  Because of this fact, you can always talk to him , you can tell him about everything and anything, our sins are no longer an issue. Is that not really fun?

Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

Since God is always close to us, are you saying we can do whatever we like? LOL! First of all God’s goodness to us will never be determined by our how good we behave, secondly, why are you despising God’s goodness? Don’t you know as believers, truly believing in God’s goodness and our everlasting closeness to him has a sanctifying effect on our behaviour?  God’s grace leads our hearts to true repentance. So, don’t worry about your behaviour, enjoy your Father’s goodness and kindness and your behaviour will line up only this time, It will truly be from your heart!

Parting Scripture – Romans 8 : 1

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.

P.s: The Parting scripture is for only believers whose behaviours are warped and imperfect. If you are perfectly behaved, kindly ignore.

If you have not been listening to the songs I add here, I will stop recommending ooo. Better beg me. Check out this

Jesus’ 3D Glasses

Ever wondered why celebrities who seemingly have the world at their feet and have a lot going for them come out and say things like they are suffering from depression or having suicidal thoughts? The world can say it is an illness or a disorder or whatnot, However, I know for a fact that the root cause of depression is self-occupation. In order words, because we are always with ourselves we know all about our faults, wounds, emotional fragility and weaknesses. Therefore even though others might think we are living our best lives deep down we don’t believe that.

You are altogether beautiful my beloved there is no flaw in you! – Song of Solomon 4:7

Ever taken a selfie and asked for someone’s opinion of how you look in the picture before posting it on the Gram? I am sure we all have friends that know how to spot our best pictures but in such a subtle manner we are trying to get our approval from someone else. This case in point is not wrong but for many of us it goes deeper and when we are not seeing ourselves in our faults and weaknesses, we are seeing ourselves through the lens of another human. However, Jesus wants us to see ourselves the way he sees us and as his bride, he sees us altogether beautiful with no spot in us!

The first time I heard that scripture, I couldn’t believe it was in the bible, it sounded too romantic and each time I think about this verse in God’s word, I think to myself, Dear future wife, I can’t wait to see your eyes light up when I say these words to you! So, if the lucky sister is reading this, your eyes better still light up! LMAO.

Even before He made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. Ephesians 1:4

Anyway, As believers, God doesn’t see in us our flaws, sins, weaknesses, faults, He sees us holy and without fault and the Truth is no one sees reality like God does, The one who flung the stars into the galaxy and calls each one by name knows exactly who you are and He says in Christ you are flawlessly loved .

I know for a fact that believing this truth can be difficult because our faults are so glaring, our loved ones point them out regularly too, but that is not the reality; God’s word is the reality.

He is not like our friends that will get freaked out, or secretly think that we are just messed up; A thousand times No! Jesus understands us like no one will because he is our very Life!

This truth is important because believing it can and will radically change our walk with our heavenly father. When we know that in spite of our sins we are loved and perfect in the eyes of the One who sees perfectly, we can be open about our weaknesses to him. We can tell him about our addictions with full confidence that he does not see us in our sins but in his darling Son. We can tell him about our fears, we can be vulnerable with him. He is not like our friends that will get freaked out, or secretly think that we are just messed up; A thousand times No! Jesus understands like no one will because he is our very Life!

So tomorrow, when you have that lustful thought, when you tell that lie you shouldn’t have and when you are not loving and act selfishly put on Jesus’ 3d glasses and see that your Identity before your father is still intact and you are still spotless and flawless in his eyes. You are because you are in Christ and Christ is in you!

Parting Scripture : Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. – Colossians 3 : 12

Flawless I don’t think I could have chosen a better song to leave you with. I am sure you will love this one!

P.s I have never watched a movie in 3d. I hope to try that soon!

The Index Piece

I know that for guys we are reticent about speaking up about this area particularly because it deals with emotions. So, we suppress it with drugs, alcohol, pornography, sex the list is huge.

The idea of starting a blog has always been something I wanted to do. I just never had enough conviction about what I wanted to write about. I just knew the plan was whatever I gave my time and energy to had to help make some sort of positive difference in people’s lives, especially for young adults like me.

Depending on His life in us is the only way we navigate this confusing stage of our life without getting lost.

I have been a believer in Jesus Christ for as long as I can remember but recently for a number of reasons, I have become more aware of how difficult it can be as a young adult to navigate through the mundane activities of life and for while my faith in Jesus Christ had been useless in the fight of life. It’s almost like, Jesus saved me, gave me eternal life and then left me to deal with depression, insecurities, loneliness and low self-esteem on my own.

These are issues that I struggle with among a myriad of others and the reason I decided to start this blog is that I believe that I am not the only one that goes through these issues. I know that for guys we are reticent about speaking up about this area particularly because it deals with emotions. So, we suppress it with drugs, alcohol, pornography, sex the list is huge.

The problem is no one tells us how to deal with these issues, our churches 90% of the time doesn’t help. They are like that annoying lecturer that teaches so little and expect you to know so much. They tell you consuming pornographic content will destroy your life but they stop there. No one tells you that you are probably hooked on porn because you don’t know how much you are loved by Jesus and that you are looking for love and acceptance all in the wrong places.

No one tells us that the reason we do alcohol and drugs is that we feel depressed and lonely and that we believe no one truly gets us with all our idiosyncrasies.

Jesus is not interested in perfection, with what little light he has given you let it beam!

Jesus is enough. If I am honest, this still sounds like Greek to me. But what if you didn’t depend on that guy or that girl to make you feel loved or special. What if Jesus doesn’t just save us and give us eternal life, what if he is also right smack in the midst of everything we are going through and understands you more than you understand yourself. What if you didn’t have to result to pornography to deal with this depressing feeling of loneliness.

Believers don’t want to sin. we hate it. So, I am going to skip the part of telling you to get your life in order. Because the reality is we have a saviour who looks beyond our weaknesses and sees our need for him. Jesus is enough, his life in us is all the guidance, motivation and power we need to live out who we truly are in him. Depending on his life in us is the only way we navigate this confusing stage of our life without getting lost.

I am no preacher, I am just a believer who has had to deal with what I just talked about one way or the other and of course I don’t claim to have figured out 1% of what there is to life but I believe Jesus is not interested in perfection, with what little light he has given you let it beam!

This is my Index piece, Navigatingtheyoungadultlife is my platform to tell you that what you are not weird for what you going through. You are not alone in your struggles as a young adult, I don’t know if it is just me but there something about knowing you are not alone that makes a situation bearable. Sometimes getting a solution to an issue is not what we need, sometimes, just knowing we are not alone is enough to help us.

I know you are going to enjoy my content, so stay tuned and keep yourself in the love of God for you.

Parting Scripture : Colossians 3: 3-4

For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.

If you haven’t listened to Reckless love are you even born again?
